The orange tree (Citrus sinensis) is a fruit tree belonging to the Rutaceae family, whose fruit is the orange (also called ‘orange’ in common usage, like the tree). It is an ancient hybrid, the result of a cross between the pomelo and the mandarin tree over 4000 years ago.
